Kalina Bogoeva Prima ballerina of the State Opera and Ballet Theater in
Sofia. She is a recognized authority in the field of teaching
techniques for classical dance and classical repertoire
(Russian school of dancing). She is a graduate of the State Choreography School in
Sofia and of the Academic Ballet School in Moscow.
She is a certified ballet master and a stage director of
the State Institute of Theater in Moscow.
She is a laureate of the International Ballet Contests
in Varna. She has been a member of international jury many times,
She is the head of the department of Ballet in the
National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”. |

Academician
Krasimira Asenova Koldamova
• World criticism defines Koldamova as one of the
brightest stars of 20th Century European ballet.
• She has been trained at the Bulgarian and Russian
Ballet Schools. She has danced and is familiar with the
whole classical ballet repertoire - St. Petersburg
version.
• She is a long-term ballet pedagogue and artistic
manager of the State Ballet School for the period of
1984 – 1988.
• She has represented Bulgaria as a ballet dancer, a
pedagogue and a member of international jury /Varna, New
York, Paris, Holgate, Osaka, Jackson, Moscow/ for years.
• For special merits to the Republic of Bulgaria in the
field of ballet art she was decorated by the president
with the order of Stara Planina - Second Degree.

CLASSICAL PROGRAM |

Ani
Collier USA Ani Collier is a
dancer, choreographer, director and visual artist. She
was born in Bulgaria and trained at The State Ballet
School in Sofia behind the Iron Curtain before moving to
USA after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990.
Ani’s dance career has included principal roles in
classical ballets such as ‘The Nutcracker’, performances
in ‘Apollo’ and ‘Who Cares’ by Balanchine, and original
roles in choreography by Judy Skinner, Kim Tuttle,
Alberto Alonso and others. She has toured in Russia,
Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Costa Rica and the USA. ‘In the
Annex’, ‘Margarita’, ‘Mistresses of Many Voices’, ‘Of
Air and the Water’, ‘Sex: Female’, ‘Swan Song’ and
‘Shadows’ are among the dance theater performances Ani
has choreographed and directed.
Ani is the founder of ‘Etud’ foundation supporting new
or experimental work and emerging artists. She has also
produced dance performances with the Bulgarian National
Ballet, introducing Balanchine to Bulgarian audiences. |

Valeriya Uralskaja
RUSSIA
• teacher, historian and critic of ballet. • Graduated from the Moscow Ballet School at the Bolshoi
Theatre and the Balletmaster-Pedagogue faculty of the
Moscow Academy of Theatre Art. • Valeriya Uralskaja is a Ph.D, the professor and the
chairman of the board of the theory and a history of
ballet of the Moscow Academy of Slavic Cultures. • As the critic and the theorist of ballet constantly
participates in the international conferences, seminars,
festivals and competitions. • author of several books and many pieces under the
theory of dance. The theme of the basic scientific
interests is researches of the nature of dance. • Since 1981 works in magazine Ballet (since 1995 – the
Editor-in-Сhief ). She is the Honored Worker of Arts of
Russia, the Laureate of the State Prizes of Russia. |

Oleg Danovski
ROMANIAGraduate of the Choreography High
School of Bucharest, Oleg Danovski Jr. started his
career in ballet dancing in 1976 as an employee of the
Romanian Opera of Bucharest. Shortly, he was made first
soloist and choreographer at the National Ballet Company
in Ecuador, where he remained for four years. Here, he
has the opportunity to work with Anna Sokolow (chief of
the Мodern dance department of Julliard School in New
York) and Lorna Burshall (director of the Modern Ballet
Company in Cuba). During this time, he teaches classical
dancing methodology lectures at the Academia Nacional de
Danza and directs a number of shows.
After his return to the country and until 2007 he
activates as first soloist and choreographer at the Oleg
Danovski Ballet Theatre of Constanta, where he dances in
a number of soloist parts and makes the choreography for
a series of shows.
Among his most important achievements we mention the
choreography of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the
directing of other shows, such as: Swan Lake, The
Nutcracker, the second act of La Bayadere and The
Miraculous Mandarin.

Mariana Deneva
BULGARIA
She is one of the most famous Bulgarian prima
ballerinas; Laureate of the International Ballet
Competition-Varna. She is a master of the whole
classical repertoire and has represented Bulgarian
Ballet Art in Europe, Egypt, China, and Cuba. As a
ballet pedagogue she has trained a number of ballet
artists, who have made Bulgaria famous all over the
world. She is a successful and highly professional
person. Currently she is a principal of the National
School of Dance Art. |

Svetlin Ivanov
BULGARIA
In 1990 he graduated Ballet Directing and Choreography
in GITIZ, Moscow; in 1998 defended a Master’s degree at
Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music. Since 1994
he has been a chief master-ballet dancer and
vice-director of St. Makedonski National Theatre of
Music. His production work is variable and
wide-spectrum.
Among his most significant ballet productions are “Along Our Way”,
“Erotore”, “Breath in Time”, “Color Dimension”, “The
Limit”. For his performance “Tango” he is awarded
“Musician of the Year” for best musical-stage work of
2002. For the musical “Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat” he is awarded Crystal Lira for
exceptional choreographic achievements. He makes the
choreography and sets ballet screens in opera works of
the National Opera and Ballet.
His performances and concerts have been played and
performed not only in Bulgaria but also in Greece,
Turkey, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Macedonia, Denmark,
Holland, Switzerland, Japan. Currently, Svetlin Ivelinov is head of the ballet and
chief master-ballet dancer of St Makedonski National
Theatre of Music. |

Milena Simeonova
BULGARIAPrima ballerina of the National
Opera and Ballet Theater in Sofia. She is a classical
dance, historical dances and repertoire teacher in the
National Choreographic school in Sofia.
She has graduated from the ballet academy “Agripina
Vaganova” in Petersburg. She is a laureate of the
International Ballet Contests in Varna and Osaka and of
the development meeting of young ballet performers in
Dobrich.
She has been awarded a Silver lyre – a prize awarded by
the Union of musical and dance performers in Bulgaria.
She has performed in four continents – Europe, Asia,
Africa and Australia.
She has accomplished her higher education and graduated
in ballet pedagogy from the National Music Academy
“Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” with Ass. Prof. Kalina Bogoeva
as art advisor. |

Maria Ilieva
BULGARIAMaria Ilieva starts dancing at 8. She
starts studying at the State Choreography School - Sofia
in the class of Bulgarian prima ballerina Tsveta
Dzhumalieva at 10. As a particularly gifted child she’s
chosen to continue education in world-famous Vaganova
Academy in St. Petersburg. Student of the notable Maria
Boyarchikova, Lyudmila Belskaya Irina Trofimov and the
famous Russian ballerina and teacher Feya Balabina.
After graduation she’s admitted to the corps de ballet
of the Sofia National Opera performing practically all
the solo dances in the Opera repertoire.
Among the ballet awards are:
1985 - Dobrich - National meeting of young talents.
1986 - International Ballet Competition Varna-86, bronze
medal and a diploma.
Major roles: Masha in the “Nutcracker”, "Giselle," "Swan
Lake”, “Romeo and Juliet", "Silfida” and many others.
Since 1990, Maria Ilieva is a prima ballerina of the
Sofia National Opera with tours in Austria, Germany and
Switzerland in the period 1996 - 1999 year.
Since 1994 together with the stage performances, Maria
Ilieva works as a ballet teacher. Her students are
honored with prestigious awards in Luxembourg, Varna,
Dobrich, where she’s nominated for best teacher in 2000.
She creates School of Classical Ballet In 1995, later
known as the Maria Ilieva Ballet School.
PhD since 2007 - "Aspects of training in ballet in
preschool”. Artistic director of the National Ballet – Sofia
(2001-2003), the period Bulgarian ballet first meets the
works of Balanchin, Maria produces the original
production of "Silfida” which allows young
choreographers to create on stage.
Founder of Young Ballet of Bulgaria in 2000, which aims
to help young professionals in the field of ballet. |

George Elkin
SWEDEN
Georgi Elkin has received his Classical Dance education
at The State Ballet School in Sofia, Bulgaria, and the
last three years at The Moscow Academic Ballet School.
His Classical Repertory includes a wide range of roles
which he performed both in Bulgaria and abroad.
Following his interest in Contemporary Dance, he joined
the “Arabesque” dance company in Sofia and later on The
Cullberg Ballet Company in Stockholm, Sweden, where he
pursued an international career with the unique art of
Mats Ek and internationally known choreographers such as
Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Christopher Bruce, Ohad
Naharin, Bill Forsythe, Carolyn Carlson, Philip Taylor
and many others.
George Elkin is currently active as Classical Technique
Coach, conducts Contemporary Dance Workshops and
composes music for stage,film and expositions. |

Boryana Sechanova
BULGARIA
Boryana Sechanova graduated the National School of Dance
Art in the city of Sofia in 1981 and was accepted in the
ballet troupe of the Sofia Opera and Ballet. Then she
continued her education in Moscow with Prof. Olga
Tarasova – in 1990 she has specialized Ballet Directing
in GITIZ, Moscow.
Since 1991 she has been working as a choreographer and
since 2002 she is a director of Ballet Arabesk. She is
author and choreographer of 20 ballet and drama
performances on the stage of the National Opera and
Ballet – city of Sofia, Ballet Arabesk, Ivan Vazov
National Theater, the National Opera – town of Stara
Zagora, the National Opera – city of Varna, the National
Opera – town of Ruse, Pantdance Theatre, etc.
In 2006 and 2008 she was selected for a member of the
Jury of the International Ballet Competition, city of
Varna.
In 1996 she has been awarded first prize for
contemporary choreography at the International Ballet
Competition in the city of Varna. She is also a winner
of the Sofia Municipality Award for best performance –
for the performance of Faust in 2003. In 2006, both with
Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova received the Crystal Lira
Award for creative team for the performance of “Carmina
Burana”. |

Olesya Pantikina
BULGARIA
Olesya Pantikina graduated the National School of Dance
Art in Sofia in 1986 in the class of Lyubov Fominih. In
the period of 1986 – 1996 she has worked as a ballet
dancer in Ballet Arabesk - Sofia. She studied Ballet Directing with Margarita Arnaudova
and Boryana Sechanova at the New Bulgarian University –
1993-1996.
She graduated in Ballet Pedagogy at the National Academy
of Music Pancho Vladigerov – Sofia, with Prof. Kalina
Bogoeva.
Since 1994 she has worked as a choreographer. In the
period between 1994 -1996 taught modern dance at the
American University in Blagoevgrad and at the New
Bulgarian University – Sofia.
Since 2000 she has been a choreographer and tutor in
Ballet Arabesk.
Since 2001 she has been teaching modern dance techniques
at the National School of Dance Art – Sofia.
Olesya Pantikina is an author and choreographer of
performances for Ballet Arabesk, the National Opera –
Varna, the National School of Dance Art – Sofia, etc.
Some of her performances have been filmed by the
Bulgarian National television.
She has been a member of the jury of the International
Youth Ballet Competition in the town of Lvov – 2006 and
in the town of Kharkov (Ukraine) – 2007. |

Ph.D Teodor Popov
BULGARIA
Ph.D Teodor Popov was born in Sofia 1955, December 11,
in a family of intellectuals. He graduates at the
Algerian State University - German studies and history
of arts, German philology, psychology and pedagogy at
the Sofia University; music pedagogy at South-West
University in Blagoevgrad and Public Health and Health
Management at the Medical University - Sofia.
PhD since 1996, Associate Professor since 2003 and since
2007 - professor in the Faculty of Public Health at the
Medical University – Sofia, head of the Medical Pedagogy
department.
Teodor Popov lectures at Sofia University, the National
Music Academy, the Academy of music, dance and fine arts
- Plovdiv, Veliko Turnovo University" St.St. Cyril and
Methodius ", Professor Zlatarov University - Bourgas and
others.
He is the author of 35 monographs and textbooks, half of
which are in the field of ballet and dancing, more than
220 scientific publications printed in Bulgaria and
Russia, Germany, France, Macedonia, Czech Republic,
Ukraine, Turkey, China, Belarus.
Member of the editorial board of the Music Horizons
magazine. Among the awards he was honored are the Golden
Lyre (2005), Crystal Lyre (2007), Ballet Critics Award
(1993, 1995) and others. He is elected trustee of the
St.Nedelya Church for his fourth term. |

Margarita Gradechlieva
BULGARIABallet dancer, modern dance pedagogue, choreographer. Born on May 24, 1941 in Sofia.
Author-choreographer of dance performances in Ek Studio,
Ballet Arabesk, Academia Philharmonia – Messina, Itally,
opera performances – Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, theatrical
performances in the country.
She specialized Modern Dance in the International
Academy, Cologne – Germany, London Contemporary Dance
Trust – England, with Maurice Béjart – “The 20th Century
Ballet” Brussels She has been awarded for original choreography – modern
dance at the International Competition in Cologne –
Germany, the International Ballet Competition – Varna,
the meeting of young ballet performers in Dobrich.
Since 2004, she is artistic director of Modern Dance at
the National School of Dance Art – Sofia. |

Mila Iskrenova
BULGARIA
Mila Iskrenova is one of the most acclaimed and actively
working choreographers in Bulgaria. She has created the
choreography for more than 20 dance performances, 10
short dance films and many more theatre pieces for the
last two decades. She has specialized contemporary dance
in Germany and at the Laban Centre London thanks the
British Council fellowship. As a teacher she has led
courses and workshops at the New Bulgarian University,
National School for Dance Art, National Academy for
Theatre and Film Arts - Sofia, as well as abroad in
Italy and Greece. She has worked with leading Bulgarian
dance companies: Ballet Arabesque, Amarant Dance Studio,
Heteropodi Dance, etc. Co-founder and dancer of EK dance
company. She was honored many prices and awards as The
Crystal Lyre Award for choreography - 1997, first price
at the Golden Antenna International TV festival - 2004. |

Anna Doneva BULGARIA
In 1999, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in
Ballet Pedagogy at Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of
Music. In 2001 she finished her education in Laban
Center London, where she received a Specialist Diploma
for Dance Training – choreography, choreology, release
and Cunningham dance techniques.
Since 2001 she has been working in the National School
of Dance Art /NSDA/, where she teaches modern dance
techniques and repertoire. She is a member of the team
created the first Department of Modern Dance at the
National School of Dance Art in 2004. She is also a
member of the jury of the International Ballet
Competition Baroque Sicily 2007, Modica (Italy) and
teaches a class of modern dance techniques. In 2008 she
was among the 17 choreographers out of 50, from 15
European countries, chosen to present their countries at
the European Dance Platform in Frankfurt. Doneva is a representative for Bulgaria in Aerowaves
European Dance Organization. She is a talented
choreographer, expressed the richness and originality of
her thought in a number of performances.
She has been decorated with the award of the Ministry of
Culture and the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers
– Crystal Lira for “Production Team”. In 2007 she
received Crystal Lira for the choreography of the
musical Miss Saigon. |
